Introduction

In this kickoff message to our “Ephesians: Rooted in Christ” series, Daniel Ziesing draws a connection between spiritual growth and plant growth—from photosynthesis and germination to pruning and purpose. Teaching from Ephesians 1, Daniel helps us see the “wealth” of blessings we have in Christ: forgiveness, the Spirit, and the hope of eternity. Using sun, soil, and water as a parable for faith, Scripture, and community, he challenges us not to become complacent in these gifts—but to stay rooted in God’s love and continue growing as individuals and as a church.

📖 Context:

Ephesians is a letter from Paul to the early church in Ephesus—believers living in a spiritual, Romanized culture. Paul opens the letter by reminding them of the foundation of their faith: their identity in Christ and the blessings that come with it.
